West Seattle Remodel

Perched on a hill with a view of the city in the distance, homeowners wanted to highlight the surroundings with natural materials and textures. The entire first floor was stripped to the studs and completely restructured to accommodate their entertaining lifestyle. Monochromatic wood accents deliver the feel of a cabin just steps away from the city.

Living Room

The biggest change that occurred at this home was the relocation of the kitchen from the front of the home to the back. Removing the dated galley kitchen opened up this space and created a beautiful large living/dining room. Off the far corner of the living room is a guest bedroom with access to the wrap around deck. A custom barn door was built to make the entrance more of a focal point. The exterior door was replaced with a half lite Douglas Fir with a dog door. All interior and exterior doors on the main level were also replaced with Douglas Fir doors from Frank Lumber.

Kitchen

What used to be a bedroom down the hallway from the living room, has now become the open kitchen. Removal of two interior walls created a much more open concept. Keeping with the cabin style of rich, dark woods, the homeowners chose dark cherry cabinets with slate colored quartz countertops and river rock backsplash. A large stainless steel farmhouse sink, double ovens, and a glass cooktop with recessed range hood created the ideal space for hosting guests. The kitchen was completed with a custom pantry built to accommodate the homeowner’s beloved Fiesta dinnerware.

Guest Bathroom

Across from the kitchen, you can find another guest bedroom that was redone with new flooring, trim, paint. Next to the guest room is the new guest bathroom. A small half bath and a tight full bath were both demoed and walls were opened to create a large bathroom retreat. The vanity and countertop echoed that of the kitchen, and the hardwood style ceramic tile flooring was brought up onto the bath surround to bring the outdoors in. Black shower and sink fixtures provide a sharp contrast to the earth tones. The bathroom is finished with stunning vintage inspired pipe light fixtures. Vanity mirror not shown.
